Public Broadcasting Needs Your Help

April 19, 2010

As many of you know, I work for PBS – Commonwealth Public Broadcasting. The Governor has proposed three budget amendments which would eliminate ALL funding for public TV over the next four years (as opposed to the 15% cut passed by the legislature this year). This, in addition to the over 40% in cuts sustained since 2000.

What most folks don’t know is that the state funding we receive goes directly to support public education – not general viewing programs, which are supported by members.

So I’m asking for your help. If you believe in the mission of public television and would like to help, please email the delegates and senators (separately please) listed below with the attached message. The subject line should simply be “I support Public Broadcasting”.

I’ve also included a link to find other state legislators if you feel like expanding your appeal.

The legislature will reconvene this Wednesday, April 21st to vote on the governor’s amendments – so time is of the essence!

Thank you for listening – and for any help you’d like to provide -

Dear _______,

I support Public Broadcasting. I’d appreciate it if you’d vote against the Governor’s amendments 120, 122 and 123.

Thank you.
